Just born!

The first days of your child's life. Learn the basics of newborn care.

Overview

The first days of your child's life are a special time of adaptation and getting to know each other. Your baby is learning to live outside the mother's body and requires special attention and care.

Baby development

In the first days of life, the baby adapts to a new environment. Their body is adjusting to independent breathing, feeding, and thermoregulation.

Milestones

  • Newborn reflexes (grasp, rooting, sucking)
  • Responds to parents' voice and face
  • Can focus gaze at a distance of 20-30 cm

Feeding

Breastfeeding is the best way to feed a newborn. The baby needs to be fed every 2-3 hours, including during the night.

Sleep

Newborns sleep 16-18 hours a day, but their sleep is fragmented. They do not yet distinguish day from night.

Safety

  • Always place the baby on its back to sleep
  • Use a firm mattress without pillows
  • Avoid soft toys in the crib
  • Maintain an optimal room temperature

Activities

The best activities for a newborn are skin-to-skin contact, gentle touches, calm talking, and singing.
